The Little Loomhouse
About this tag
The Little Loomhouse is really three nineteenth-century cabins tucked into Kenwood Hill, later turned into a center for hand weaving and textile education. Its small teaching looms helped preserve traditional weaving patterns, and linens made here even reached the White House. The cabins also sit inside one of Louisville’s more persistent pieces of musical folklore: the melody that became “Happy Birthday to You” was written by two nearby residents, and tradition holds that the familiar birthday words were first tried out at a party here.
