St Johns Day League Infirmary
About this tag
What’s left here is mostly an ornate stone entrance, which makes the place feel a little archaeological. The Masonic Widows and Orphans Home moved to this campus in 1927, complete with its own school, workshops, medical care, and an Olmsted-designed landscape. The St. John’s Day League helped support the home and lent its name to an infirmary for sick residents. Most of that institutional world has changed or disappeared, leaving bits of old masonry to hint at how substantial it once was.
