This mural marks the former Smoketown/Shelby Park Farmers Market, which once set up in Meyzeek’s parking lot to bring fresh food within walking distance of nearby residents. The school even allowed a community mural to help give the market a permanent-looking home. The permanence turned out to belong mostly to the paint: the market itself disbanded after the 2009 season. What remains is a cheerful piece of neighborhood infrastructure advertising a Saturday grocery stop that has been gone for years.
