The big stone egg in the middle of Breslin’s skate spot is not random decoration. The entire 2018 installation was conceived as “skate-able art,” with the egg perched on a volcano-like form and built to be ridden along with the ramps, ledges, and rails around it. That feels especially fitting at Breslin, which Louisville Parks identifies as the site of the city’s original skatepark. The egg may look like somebody misplaced a piece of sculpture in the concrete, but it is exactly where it is supposed to be.
