NO ONE IS FREE UNTIL WE ALL ARE
About this tag
The mural credits Martin Luther King Jr. with “No one is free until we all are,” though the exact wording has a tangled attribution history. King often made the same argument, including his famous warning that “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Fannie Lou Hamer used the even closer “Nobody’s free until everybody’s free” in a 1971 speech. There’s a Kentucky connection, too. Hamer spoke in the state in 1968 about voting rights, Jim Crow, and interracial unity.
