RIP Old Louisville Coffee Co-Op, though this building has already lived several lives. Before the worker-owned coffee shop opened here in 2022, the address had hosted a succession of restaurants, most notably the long-running Amici Café. That history left a wonderfully awkward calling card: a stone wine glass set into the brick wall outside an explicitly sober coffee shop. The Co-Op closed in 2026, and the building has since been purchased by the Filson Historical Society for yet another reinvention. The wine glass may be the most honest part of the place: evidence that whatever occupies this corner now probably won’t be its last identity.
