Eva Bandman Park
About this tag
For Louisville cyclocross, this is sacred ground. The city began building a dedicated course here in 2009, complete with sand, steep run-ups, wooded sections, and the other indignities that make cyclocross so entertaining. Four years later it hosted the sport’s world championships — the first time that event had ever been held outside Europe. The course is still maintained as a cyclocross venue, with the local riding community helping care for its trails. Plenty of Louisville parks are good places to ride a bike; this one was deliberately built to make riding one much harder.
