The Beechmont mural was part of a larger effort to turn an ordinary service alley into an actual neighborhood place. Residents voted to name the passage Beechmont Alley, while a 2020–21 placemaking project added lighting, a parklet, accessibility improvements, and this mural by Kacy Jackson. What had mostly functioned as the gap between Annie’s Cafe and Sunergos became something people were supposed to notice, use, and call by name.
