Croghan Launch was the first finished piece of Origin Park, and in 2023 it looked like a beautiful new gateway to Silver Creek—with one glaring problem. At low water, the paved launch ended well above the creek, leaving an awkwardly steep final drop between “boat ramp” and “actual water.” That was not just a passing complaint: the Conservancy later acknowledged that the site worked mainly as a high-water launch for experienced paddlers and eventually closed it for improvements aimed at safety and accessibility.
