Lottie the Triceratops
About this tag
This was one of the places I already had in mind when Bike Tag started, mostly because a triceratops perched on an elevator shaft seemed too strange and conspicuous not to use. It turns out the placement was quite practical. Lottie began life as one of Sinclair Oil’s fiberglass dinosaurs for the 1964 New York World’s Fair, spent decades in Louisville, then disappeared into storage for years. She had been restored and hoisted back downtown only a few months before this tag. The rooftop perch was chosen to keep her safe from cars and Ohio River floods. Even the name “Lottie” was new that year.
