This Beautiful Moment Is Ours was painted in 2023 by Puerto Rico-born artist Josué Pellot. The phrase grew out of Hurricane Maria. After months unable to reach family in Puerto Rico, Pellot finally heard from an aunt who described children playing outside and neighbors cooking and eating together despite the devastation. He later called the thought a kind of mantra, first painting it in Spanish in Chicago before repeating the English version in other places, including this Shelby Park wall.
