Haunted Hotel
About this tag
The Haunted Hotel has been scaring people on South Fourth Street since 1991, which makes it less a seasonal novelty than a piece of Louisville infrastructure at this point. It started with five-dollar tickets and thousands of visitors, then built a reputation around elaborate effects, aggressive actors, and the sort of close-contact scares that made “hotel” feel like a fairly loose description of the experience. More than three decades later, it is still operating in the same location. Some Louisville landmarks survive because they are historic. This one survives because people keep paying to have strangers jump out at them in the dark.
