Joe Autry’s sculptures have a habit of turning up in unexpected corners around Louisville, and his work often draws on mythology and legend. He started sculpting at 17, first working in bronze before chainsaw carving became his full-time thing. There’s even another Autry angel in Butchertown, carved from a 95-year-old tree at Hildegard House. Apparently Louisville has enough winged figures by Joe Autry to make finding one in Crescent Hill feel almost like part of a series.
