About this tag
The black-and-white jazz mural sits near 12th and Oak, at the southern edge of the California neighborhood. The mural itself doesn’t seem to have much of a public paper trail, but the corner does. Louisville’s neighborhood plan describes 12th Street as a once-significant African American business corridor that was completely razed during urban renewal. Historic photos also show a Southern Bell garage here in the 1940s.
