Quite literally, the goalpost in Shelby Park. The park has supported football and other field sports for generations, going back to the era when active recreation was becoming a major part of Louisville park design. Manual High School even used Shelby Park for football before it had a permanent field of its own. So this may be one of the archive’s least metaphorical tags, but the object is not as random as it looks: people have been playing football here for more than a century.
