VIA Studio calls this Madison Street gateway mural The Temple of Community. Created for Vision Russell in 2019 and painted by Often Seen Rarely Spoken, it started with the designers noticing that the railroad overpass already felt a little like a temple. A recent trip by one of the designers to Burning Man helped push the idea further, toward a shrine to community values instead of a deity. The imagery represents things like peace, wisdom, strength, justice, family, dignity, and unity.
