Underpass Mass
About this tag
The peeling church mural sits almost beside one of the oldest pieces of Catholic history in this part of Louisville. St. Patrick’s at 1301 W. Market was built in 1862 for a largely Irish immigrant parish, and the parish school became the first Xaverian Brothers school in the United States, eventually growing into St. Xavier High School. I couldn’t confirm that the underpass painting is actually meant to show St. Patrick’s, but if it is, the subject is only a few yards from the wall.
