HEARTS
About this tag
The HEARTS graffiti sat on the supports of a bridge cyclists have spent decades wishing they could actually use. The K&I once carried cars alongside its railroad tracks, but those roadway lanes closed in 1979, and repeated efforts to reopen one for bikes and pedestrians have gone nowhere. Reaching this tag meant approaching the bridge the much less dignified way: off the usual cycling path, on a wet and muddy day. Its captor summed it up better than any infrastructure study could: “This was a fun journey.”
