Doorway
About this tag
The doorless doorway is part of the floodwall that has been cutting through Butchertown since the postwar flood-control project. After the devastating Ohio River floods of 1937 and 1945, the wall was routed straight through the neighborhood. Nearby on Quincy Street it even runs down the middle of the road, a choice largely made because the city already owned the right-of-way. A doorway to nowhere seems on par for one of Louisville’s stranger pieces of infrastructure.
