Ad Astra
About this tag
Ad Astra — “to the stars” — has been standing in the middle of UofL’s medical campus since around 1970, when the surrounding Health Sciences Center was still new. It is an abstract sculpture, which is a polite way of saying it can look a little like a giant harp, antenna, or piece of laboratory equipment depending on your angle and imagination. Whatever it was meant to evoke, it has spent more than half a century quietly occupying one of downtown Louisville’s busiest medical courtyards.
