Theatre Building
About this tag
Despite the name, the Theatre Building wasn't actually the theater. It was built in 1928–29 as the Theatre Realty Building, with stores and offices next door to Loew's Theatre, now the Louisville Palace. The ornament gets pretty specific once you look closely. University of Louisville records describe urn-and-face friezes, floral cornices and winged gargoyles. The entrance itself is finished in red marble with recessed bronze-plated doors.
