Two tags after a real payphone, Bike Tag found the artistic version. Phone is by David Walinski and is part of Downtown Louisville’s Alley Gallery, which turns otherwise forgettable service doors into public art using vinyl reproductions of local artists’ work. The subject fits Walinski especially well. His urban-realist paintings focus on the bits of city infrastructure people usually stop noticing, including manhole covers, utility hardware and other remnants of the streetscape.
