US Army Reserve Center Tank
About this tag
The tank parked outside Jeffersonville’s Army Reserve Center is an M48A1 Patton, a Cold War-era American battle tank from the generation that followed World War II armor. Today it serves a much quieter role as a static display beside an active reserve facility, looking dramatically overqualified for lawn duty. It is one of those roadside objects that manages to be both historically significant and faintly absurd: several dozen tons of armored machinery, permanently reduced to sitting still and making cyclists wonder whether the barrel is aimed a little too directly at them.
