This property has had a surprisingly long automotive and commercial life. In 1928, 1148–1156 S. Fourth was an automobile showroom selling Pierce-Arrow and Chandler cars. A Graham dealership was operating at the address by the early 1940s. It later became the longtime 4th and Oak Winn-Dixie before the grocery closed and the building changed uses again. The exposed framework is striking, but I haven’t found documentation tying those trusses to any one specific period in the site’s history.
