This one managed to stump everyone for more than two weeks despite some pretty big clues: enormous exposed roots, Beargrass Creek in the background, and eventually, “The wizard hat fell but the wizard tree remains to haunt ultimate frisbee players.” That finally pointed toward Cherokee Park’s Frisbee Field, a longtime spot for ultimate, rugby and soccer. The tree itself doesn’t seem to have any documented “Wizard Tree” history, so that name belongs to Bike Tag lore. The creek valley around it is classic Cherokee Park, part of the scenery Olmsted built the park around.
