The building once served as Kentucky’s AMVETS state headquarters, but the organization has since moved on, and the memorial that stood outside is gone too. The vanished monument appears to have honored a World War II Navy veteran and longtime AMVETS member, though its dedication history is poorly documented. What remains is a useful Bike Tag time capsule: a photo of an institutional identity, a memorial, and a little piece of streetscape that no longer exists in the same form.
