Speed Art Museum Parking Garage
About this tag
Pink? Fuchsia? Put a discerning enough group of art people on it and we could probably argue all day. The bright fifth-floor elevator door belongs to the Speed Art Museum garage, which has its own mildly surprising history. UofL’s Rauch Memorial Planetarium once stood on this spot before being demolished in 1998 to make way for the garage. Joseph & Joseph designed the 300-car replacement, and it later picked up a 2000 AIA Kentucky Citation for Excellence.
