Payphone
About this tag
Anyone young enough may recognize the word “phone” without having much idea how this thing was actually supposed to work. The receiver had already been cut off, so there was no chance to test it anyway. What makes it stranger is the setting. It’s mounted on a pole beside a residence at 500 E. Oak, a house dating to about 1914, with no obvious commercial reason for a payphone to still be standing there.
