About this tag

MERRIMENT turns out to be quite literal. It’s the name of Love City’s thrift store at 2533 Portland Avenue, opened in 2024 after neighbors and volunteers helped turn an empty building into the shop. But the name has another layer too. Merriment’s own website quotes Jeremiah 30:19 about “laughter and merriment,” so reading the word as something more symbolic wasn’t entirely off base. The store’s proceeds help support Love City’s Mighty Oak Academy.
