A few days before this became a Bike Tag, Louisville used the building across the street to announce its first Office of Immigrant Affairs. The location was appropriate: Americana has long served refugee and immigrant families in South Louisville, making it one of the city’s natural gathering places for that work. The waves themselves remain a bit mysterious, but their placement beside a center built around people arriving from all over the world gives this otherwise obscure sculpture a remarkably well-timed backdrop.
