Falls City Ironworks occupies the old Fred Hutt Blacksmith Shop, and this corner has been making sparks for a very long time. The Hutt family was blacksmithing here by the 1890s, and UofL has a photo of Fred Hutt’s shop from 1963. Lewis Meyer bought the place in 2000 and still works there with two original coal forges alongside modern equipment. Plenty of old Louisville workshops have become something else. This one is still a blacksmith shop.
