The nearby plaque gives this one its story. Jared Zarantonello, who DJs as Yared Sound, made Welcoming The Dancefloor out of years spent playing KRM’s World Refugee Day celebrations. The great detail is who tended to move first. While everyone else was still working through the usual dance-floor awkwardness, KRM’s elders would get up and start dancing. Zarantonello’s larger work treats the dancefloor as a place of refuge, belonging, and cultural exchange, which makes that little recurring scene the whole idea in miniature.
