About this tag

What looks at first like some mysterious horned creature is actually an abstract flying ship. The sculpture was inspired by the children’s book *The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship*, whose hero welcomes a collection of wildly different companions aboard. That idea became the point of the artwork: ribbons forming the ship’s sails carry greetings and literary quotations in several languages contributed by the community. The library is the flying ship in this metaphor — a slightly strange-looking vessel built to gather an equally varied neighborhood aboard.
