The Cathedral of the Assumption has been downtown since 1852, with stained glass added and rearranged through several generations of renovations. Most people know the soaring Fifth Street front and its 287-foot spire. Bike Tag went around back instead, where a big round stained-glass window is tucked into an otherwise ordinary brick alley. It’s the kind of detail that makes you realize how much of an old building you never see from the front door.
