This is Andy Perez’s "Run for the Roses", installed on an MSD pump house as part of Downtown’s Alley Gallery project. The title borrows the Kentucky Derby’s famous nickname, which comes from the huge garland of red roses placed on the winning horse. Perez has returned to that same Derby-and-roses imagery in other Louisville public art too, including a later Gallopalooza horse called The Roses.
