Crescent Hill Resevoir
About this tag
The Crescent Hill Reservoir Gatehouse opened with the reservoir in 1879 and housed the valves that controlled water flowing in and out of its 110-million-gallon basins. Chief Engineer Charles Hermany gave the utility building its unusually elaborate Gothic treatment after a structure he had seen along the Rhine in Germany. The original valves are still inside, even though the system is now controlled from the treatment plant.
