Sam Peden Power Lines
About this tag
The power lines are actually part of what makes this stretch of Sam Peden interesting. The walking and biking path shares a broad high-voltage utility corridor, putting otherwise awkward easement space to recreational use. Sam Peden is Floyd County’s largest park at 104.5 acres, and the grounds have another life underneath them too. The park and neighboring 4-H property were once part of the county Poor Farm complex. Its namesake was the county parks director who helped establish Floyd County’s park board in the 1960s.
