Muncie Avenue Diversion Dam
About this tag
This is one of those tags that proves almost anything becomes interesting once somebody makes you go find it. A diversion dam is about as nondescript as infrastructure gets, but structures like this are part of Louisville’s old combined-sewer system, where stormwater and sewage once shared the same pipes and heavy rain could send the excess toward Beargrass Creek. The area around Muncie Avenue later got a much larger underground overflow basin to help keep that from happening. Bike Tag has room for the weird and vibrant, but also apparently for obscure concrete sewer engineering.
