Welcome to St. Josephs's
About this tag
Brandeis Avenue marks the northern edge of Saint Joseph, a neighborhood named for the St. Joseph Infirmary that once stood nearby on Eastern Parkway. The hospital opened a 325-room facility there in 1926, and its nursing school graduated 1,540 nurses before closing in 1971. The main building was demolished in 1980, but the name stuck. So the mural welcomes you to a neighborhood named for a landmark that’s been gone for decades.
