Jump on the Smile Train
About this tag
SMILE, YOUR CROSS-RIVER CONNECTION IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. The graffiti sits on the New Albany end of the K&I Bridge, a crossing that once carried cars alongside trains but has been closed to public road traffic since 1979. For years, cyclists and pedestrians have pushed to turn one of those old lanes into a shared-use path between New Albany and west Louisville, with plans repeatedly drawn and repeatedly stalled. So the cheerful command lands with a little accidental irony: one of the region’s most obvious potential bike connections has spent decades looming overhead while people on bikes remain firmly below it.
