Spinelli’s had a downtown shop in the basement of the Kentucky Home Life Building at Fifth and Jefferson, serving slices until 5 a.m. and hosting concerts in the same small underground space. That location closed in 2020 after COVID hit downtown. By the time of this tag in 2023, the restaurant was gone and an announced hotel-and-lofts redevelopment still hadn’t materialized. The building later went through foreclosure and sold at auction in 2026, with another mixed-use redevelopment proposed.
