About this tag

The elaborate entrance is what made this place feel tag-worthy, though I could not find any explanation for who designed the gateway or what, if anything, it is supposed to symbolize. The address has had a surprisingly varied institutional life: before becoming home to a pregnancy resource center, records place both a state civil-rights office and, later, an IBM parts operation here. That history does not explain the unusual entrance, but it does make the building feel appropriately difficult to read at a glance.
