This became known as the “cursed painting” less because of any verified curse than because Bike Tag players could not stop asking questions about it. Why do the feet look backwards? What are those shadows? What exactly is happening here? Is she serving the painting on the wall? Nobody produced a convincing answer, and the tag then lingered longer than any before it, which only improved the mythology. The painting hangs at a neighborhood tavern whose building dates back to the 1890s, but I still have not found a trustworthy origin story for the artwork itself. Some mysteries are apparently better left on the wall.
