Toohey’s had a much longer run than the shuttered storefront suggests. The family auto-parts business started in 1957 and became locally known for the slogan, “When your car goes phooey, see Toohey.” The Woodlawn location sold parts at wholesale prices for decades, and the company eventually operated in several Kentucky cities. By the time this was tagged in 2023, this store was closed, but the old signage was still doing its job.
