RIP Jerry
About this tag
Jerry’s Junk used to make this corner impossible to ignore. Jerry Lotz spent decades filling the place with anything he considered “different, unusual or ornery,” including a giant tire, a railroad caboose and a Statue of Liberty with Richard Nixon’s face. After Jerry died in 2019, thousands of pieces were auctioned off and the property gradually changed over. Today it’s Hotel Marty, with a coffee shop, apartments and offices. This metal lion is still built right into the brick wall, and other little pieces of the old collection remain tucked into walls, pavement and odd corners. I like what’s here now, but I still miss the sheer weirdness Jerry brought to Frankfort Avenue.
