Loop Island Wetlands
About this tag
Loop Island Wetlands is one of those places where a perfectly reasonable paved ride can suddenly turn into a road-bike dirt adventure. The Greenway skirts a 47-acre wetland formed around an old bend of Silver Creek, and the area has a surprisingly industrial past tied to tanneries, glass works, coal, and rail. It was obscure enough for years that one local conservation advocate called it an “unknown gem.” A little dirt under skinny tires feels like a fair price for finding it.
