These wooden steps are part of something pretty unusual: Eva Bandman was purpose-built as a permanent cyclocross venue, with stairs, run-ups, sand and other obstacles left in place between races. The course was completed in 2010 and hosted the 2013 UCI elite Cyclocross World Championships, the first held outside Europe. Flooding threatened that event badly enough that two days of racing were crammed into a single Saturday. The park is still maintained and raced today.
