Apparently one visit to this underpass wasn’t enough. The peeling church mural sits near the real St. Patrick’s, completed in 1862 for Louisville’s Irish Catholic community. Its parish school hosted the first Xaverian school in the United States in 1854. St. Xavier High School came a little later and by a different route, founded in 1864 from two other Xaverian schools downtown. The mural’s subject is still a mystery, which somehow makes the repeat appearance more appropriate.
