About this tag

The tank outside the Newman Building is an M103, most likely the later M103A2 version. These Cold War heavy tanks carried a massive 120 mm gun and were used mainly by the Marine Corps, which operated far more of them than the Army did. The Shively example is listed as serial number 765. The painted “A23” is harder to explain, but the tank itself is a pretty uncommon survivor to have sitting quietly in a neighborhood park.
