Bowman Field Fenceline
About this tag
This was a corner of Bowman Field’s perimeter fence right off the Seneca Loop, but the fence marks a pretty old dividing line. In 1928, when Bowman Field came under public operation, the land that wasn’t needed for the airport became Seneca Park. The modern four-mile recreation loop was finished in 2014, with part of the extension deliberately following the Bowman Field fence line. So this little stretch puts Louisville’s old airfield and one of its Olmsted parks right next to each other.
